Background:
Projected to open in 2009 with full operation in 2010, the Garden River Golf Resort is recruiting for the position of ?Director of Golf Operations?. The Garden River Golf Resort is located along Highway 17 E, within the Garden River First Nation near Sault Ste. Marie and on the United States Border at Michigan.

The Garden River Golf Resort is an 18 hole championship golf course designed by Arthur Hills/Steven Forrest and Associates, and is targeted to draw from a market area that includes Ontario and Northern Michigan. The resort will also feature a driving range, full service restaurant, pro shop, and banquet facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President & General Manager of the Garden River Development Corporation (the parent company), the Director of Operations will have overall accountability for operation of all aspects of the resort based on approved budgets and with a view to maximizing revenues and profitability.


The key responsibilities of the Director of Golf Operations includes, but is not limited to:
- Establishing aggressive but attainable high level goals, key performance targets and measures (including performance monitoring tools and processes) for the company and its operations for which the Director will be accountable;
- Overseeing all golf operations, including carts, pro shop, special tournaments, etc
- Ensuring the long term integrity and condition of the physical assets of the resort by ensuring an appro priate
level of care, maintenance and strategic investment in the resort and course;
- Recruitment, management , motivation and alignment of department heads, and assist with staffing of each of
those respective divisions
- Create innovative market strategies to establish a point of difference and maximizing the market share
- Maintain effective communications with all team members in regards to operations, human resource issues, and
general business
- Formulate and establish operating procedures and goals
- Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly financial reports of each area of operation
- Perform site inspections of the property
- Regularly solicit feedback from guests and members to determine how the course and operations can be improved
As this is a new course (completing construction in mid-summer, 2009), the Director of Operations will have the opportunity to create the message and position for the resort ?from the ground up?, and will also be the senior member of a small team mandated to oversee its completion and startup.


Personal Qualifications:
- Bachelor?s degree of equivalent
- Three to six years relevant experience and /or training , or a combination of both
- PGA/CPGA/LPGA member preferred
